12 July 2011 - Not too late for Polar Bears
Today was an exciting day for some. We found another feature in Trench 4 and we reached 100 Units! Yay. But Danny couldn't make it today to celebrate, due to the fact that he beasted it on the backfill pile yesterday. That sucks, cuz he was bringing the champagne and sparkling grape juice for the youngins. Other than that it was mega hot and it was basically normal. Lauren Bell found an awesome piece of Ironicity. John Krebs actually picked up a shovel instead of food and went to work on a unit! But Brian Mabelitini laid out the units kinda crooked, so Krebs has to work more muahahaha. Thank goodness for the chain of command. Anyways, other than that, nothing big, next week is backfilling and Danny basically annihilated 1/4 of the pile by himself. Next week should be a piece of cake backfilling the dirt back into the many trenches and units we opened up. Hopefully it won't take all week. Also, mosquitos are killers out here. They basically want to eat us alive and bury us in the units that we have dug. P.S. I need to start bringing 2 sandwiches to the site. John Krebs brings basically a whole fruit bowl to the site plus a huge hoagie and a 2 liter thing of coke and a big grab bag of chips. Gotta be balanced I suppose. Haha. Sorry, Here are some pictures.

7 July 2011, Nearly 100 Units!
Today was like 90 degrees out, if not more. If it were any hotter, my thick asian hair would've fallen off my head.
Krebs snack of the day was a celery stick. Tomorrow it will be a Tops Hamburger
Everyone worked on their respective units and I believe we reached 89 or 90 Units today. Our ultimate goal is to reach 100 Units, which is a huge milestone for us. It would be better if it were at 117 Units because we honestly started at 17. But thats ok. 100 Units is almost in our reach, and we got one week to do it! Nike this shiz. We started doing a preliminary backfill into our completed trenches and blocks. To do this, we had a student start backfilling in trenches all day, and the rest of us were to screen into the trenches. It was a brilliant idea! Also, we are gonna figure out the square meterage? of the whole site that we dug out. Because we believe that we covered more units and moved more dirt than any of the other Field Schools combined, but not just square meterage, but also we gotta account for depth wise too, because the other schools are going deeper. But we know we have this one in the bag.
Achievement Unlocked 35G - Over 400 photos taken over the summer! More to come for sure.

6 July 2011, Field Trip Day
Today, we visited the Molino site. http://pensacolacolonialfrontiers.blogspot.com/
We toured the area and gained some knowledge about their site. The most valuable information that I gathered is how differently theirs and our techniques are. I guess with anything, everyone has a different style. But the ultimately the goal is the same.
We met back up at the Archaeological Institute on UWF school campus. And all decided to go out to eat for lunch. While a few people got in their cars and left for the place of interest. I was one of those people. As I was heading to the place, I get like over 9,000! phone calls about how someone got into an accident, and it was none other than Steve and another individual. Apparently someone backed into Steve while he was getting out of the parking lot and someone didn't look while backing up and nailed Steve's car right in the kisser. So yeah, that really sucked, good thing both parties were ok and Steve later joined up with the gang to dig again.
We had a pretty exciting day other than that little mishap we had. We had good food for lunch and went to the site with stomachs full and ready for naps but that was not the case. We dug for about 2 hours and then the typical Florida rain came and we closed out and did the rapid packing up. Its basically the equivalent to the two minute drill in football.
Good day and Good Field Trip. I also do not have any photos of the field trip cuz I didn't bring the camera because I'm a suck

30 June 2011
Today was a crazy day of all kinds of excitement! For example, there is this guy, whose name rhymes with Crebs unleashed a pandoras box of evil upon the realm of Arcadia. What a douche. But he is still good at what he does, which is help us out and learn this archaeology stuff.
Anyways, the day had to go on and Lauren and Travis were recruited to do some underwater stuff with Eric Swanson (A fellow male member of the Crew-Upper Division). So the rest of the gang didn't see them all day till the end. Must be nice to swim in brown creek water all day but whatev. Today everyone worked really hard on what had to be done. Most were taking the Units down to level 4, which is 40CM below surface. It is a hard task, especially when a guy whose name rhymes with Crebs is eating cracker jacks in the background. I believe that everyone reached their goal today and had a good day, except for a guy who name rhymes with Crebs, cuz apparently he had a crappy sandwich, I mean if you are gonna complain about a sandwich that SOMEONE else makes you and you pay for it from the same place everytime, whose fault is that?
Ok I went on a little tangent there, but I mean well. Its just that someone needs an intervention. Also, we were aware that the other field schools were taking a field trip to Tally and decided not to tell any of us (except Jenny...how privileged haha), so for once, we werent the cool kids for the day. Oh also, Brian possibly found a poop pit, and he was suspiciously really excited about it and even went about bragging about it to our P.I. who was equally as excited. I'm sure whoever left that pit was thinking about an Archaeologist who would one day dig it up and have the biggest smile upon his face. Well today was that day. Thanks for fulfilling a dream Brian.
Archaeologically speaking, Units were completed and Plan Views and Profiles were drawn. The archaeology is fun but its the people who make it even more fun and we have a good crew of people. Good people. I love when people say that. "Hey, you know those guys? They're good people!" Yeah thats us. Crew hard at work
Dani holding the Stirrup
Jenny always posing haha
Different Ceramics of different colors and sizes and make
Marble!
Not a lot of pics from me of today, so I borrowed some from Dani.
Tomorrow is Friday, and apparently its gonna be a half day because
Notable findings of the day were:
A horse stirrup found in Dani and Jenny's Unit
And thats about it.

All right everyone, line up alphabetically according to your height.
Today, was an actual full day of work......for some people. See in this world, society is split between two kinds of people. The Winners and the Quitters aka losers. As the day went on. Numerous members of the Arcadia clan were assembled to help organize and arrange some new units to open up. Others were fortunate enough to keep working on their units.
The day was also stressful because it was Dr. Bense day. That means that the president of our school was coming by to look at our site. Which was unfortunate for us because our site kinda looked like spam and chinese food mixed. So all day the crew battled on through the brush, the weeds, the insects as far as their little archaeologists hearts could take them, and prevailed as if the heavens were smiling upon the serene divinity of the Arcadia crew. The quitter side of the crew went away for a while, never to return (for the day) and set off on a new adventure to help do some water snorkeling or whatever. But that doesn't matter to the WINNING SIDE!!! As things were winding down and huge smiles across everyone's faces, and the white of their eyes glistening in the sunlight as if they were born yesterday exploring the new surroundings of the exciting world that is now a CLEAN Arcadia. Mr. Phillips came by and went to our Field Director Brian Mabelitini, whispered something in his ear. Brian nodded his head slowly, and yelled, "Run, Get to the Choppa!" I didn't quite understand what he meant. But it was later clarified that Dr. Bense wasn't coming and all was good.
I'm going to do a pic of the day everyday from now on. And the winner is: Krebs picture of feeding his tapeworm!
Danny Allen in a unit!
Bandana Fofana Banana Rama Clan
Quitters of the day!
Screening process is a tasking endeavor, but so is sitting.

Rainy Day, 28 June 2011
Today started out fairly sunny, actually extremely sunny. So sunny that you would mistake this place for a cozier place nearer to hell, except its Florida and way hotter and muggier and so on and so forth. There was this one asian kid named Thomas, who was extremely late to Field School. Only by 30 min but who's keeping track? Everyone was minding their business and a few guys were flicking away their long worn out cigarettes into the dirt of sorrows, when all of a sudden a boy named Sean Collins heard cackling in the clouds! I told him that this wasn't Blair Witch Project and there weren't kids around cackling, cuz that would be freaky. I think what he meant to say that he heard cracking of thunder in the clouds! The kind that rips ones eardrums apart when thunder is an inch away from contact. The clouds were forming and it was almost mesmerizing, then all of a sudden we hear our Field Director, Brian Mabelitini say, "Pack up your stuff, cuz its gonna be like Nam in a second!" So we started packing up like there was no tomorrow, then when everyone thought it was all over, it started raining, gradually and slowly at first but then the thunder cracked the sky in two and rain answered with more rain and poured on us like it was the Amazon rainforest. Except 10x hotter. The crew finished packing up and started heading back as rain slowly enveloped them in wetness. As the crew started heading back, an asian fellow and his companion were left behind but for a good reason because they both noticed that the gear left behind needed to be covered by tarps so it wouldn't be damaged.
Fast forward and we meet ourselves in the site house where we redo our paperwork cuz of mistakes. It was fun for a while, then someone mentioned the Donner party, then people got hungry inside the site house....
